The Portable Forest are potted plants that can travel for shows, events and
happenings inside and outside. Typically they are shown interacting with the space they are in or traveling
metaphorically if not physically.
Bank was invited by the Dumbo Arts Center to be part of the Dumbo Arts Festival to embark on an epic journey towing a trailer converted into a greenhouse filled with herbs and veggies with her corgi herb dog copilot in the passenger seat. Once parked at the festival, visitors took herbs and veggie clippings from the dog (made of thyme, chives, oregano, and rosemary) and trailer in Portable Forest reusable produce bags!
During feeding time, participants ate salad made from the Greenhouse trailer out of riot helmets while they were being worn! In the evenings, Chris Colthart, a Los Angeles sound artist, performed the Portable Forest Anthem, an experimental jam to a field recording of inside the greenhouse trailer during the ride.
Bank's car and trailer were donated to the SPCA in NYC in the name of her corgi, Foxy, who passed October 2012.
