Getting Your Site Up

Domain Names: Registering

Once you pick a name, you need to register it. It may not be available.

You can check availability and register through:

http://www.verisign.com, this was Network Solutions, the first registration service. It cost like $35.00 a year.

http://www.register.com
, but it costs $35.00 a year to register through them.

But register through:

http://www.namesarecheap.com is only $14.00 a year.

http://www.stargateinc.com is only $13.95 a year.

http://www.godaddy.com is only $8.95 a year.

You can also buy through the hosting service of your choice as a packaged deal, which is usually cheapest and easiest to set up. If you buy through register.com, you may need to wait a while to transfer your domain name to your new host. And sometimes it is a technical hastle with many phone calls/emails to their Tech department.
