Importing Files

Bitmaps, vector, video, and audio can be imported into Flash with one easy step:

File>Import>Import to Stage

File>Import>Import to Library

You can also open another FLA's library with File>Import>Open External Library

Bitmaps: jpgs, gifs, animated gifs (they come in as a sequence on frames), pngs, etc., can be imported. Once in Flash, they can be Broken Apart (Modify>Break Apart) to cut, animate, erase, and clean them up.

Name your files to be imported sequentially to have Flash ask you if you want to import them as a sequence.

Importing bitmaps with alpha channels: In order to have an image on transparency you must have the image on transparency in Photoshop or an Alpha channel. Beware of Gifs with white matte edges.

You can import PSD files directly. If it says it doesn't recognize the file and asks you if you want to use Quicktime, just say yes.
