To convert lines to fills, which you may want to do to create traditional looking ink lines, just select:

Modify>Shape>Convert Lines to Fills

You can also make your shapes have blurred edges.

ex.

Modify>Shape>Soften Fill Edges

Select the number of steps and distance between steps in pixels.
