Onion Skinning

The onion skin tool in Flash does pretty much the same thing as putting pieces of tracing paper over on another on a light table. You can expand the number of frames that you will see ahead and behind your playhead marker or quickly select all. Onion skin Outlines lets you see the other frames as outline to help you align them.

This is, as you know if you are an animator, indispensable for getting proper registration of your parts, such as mouths and eyes to avoid popping animation.

To onion skin:

1. Select the far left button option in the bottom of the timeline next to the frame rate indicator.

2. Drag the markers at the top of the timeline to choose how much you want to onion skin.

Outlines
Turning on outlines, in the layers, when onion skinning can be incredibly useful for lining up items. It is also useful for lining up items on the same frame that are on multiple layers.
